Christantus Uche Fuels Dominant Crystal Palace Triumph at Shelbourne.

Even though embarking on their first-ever continental adventure, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting at a rapid pace. Missing key players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a comfortable result that all but guarantees them a place in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

A further three points in their upcoming fixture against Finland's KuPS should be enough to seal direct entry to the last 16, particularly following a previous setback against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Moment

This match offered a chance for some of Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second start after joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a well-taken goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, finding the net for the second game in succession.

A Shelbourne team that had finished their domestic season were outmatched against a mostly rotated Palace outfit. The Londoners were already weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee injuries.

Dominance Asserted from the Start

In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A slick move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a straightforward tap-in.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close minutes later, fizzing a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after racing into the area, but the referee waved away the protests.

Ex-Arsenal man did not have wait long to find his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's shot had hit the post.

Shelbourne were hanging on for dear life. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for a couple of agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a header from a corner.

Yeremy Pino Wraps Up the Game

The match was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some comically weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring with his very first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then blazed a glaring chance, showing there is still scope for improvement in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, capping an otherwise positive evening for the visiting side.
